NYC Council District 44 Special Election Results: See Who Won

The special election took place after Kalman Yeger was elected to a state assembly seat in November 2024. ​​

BROOKLYN, NY — The New York City Council District 44 seat has been filled following a special election in South Brooklyn to fill Assembly Member Kalman Yeger’s vacant council seat.

State Sen. Simcha Felder will be returning to the city council after securing 81.7 percent of the vote, with 98 percent of scanners reported, according to city board of elections data.

Republican Heshy Tischler received 949 votes and ran under a "Team Trump" party line.

Nearly 5,500 total votes were tallied as of 9:30 p.m. on election night.

Felder, previously served as a city council member from 2002 to 2010.

Council District 44 encompasses parts of Gravesend, Sunset Park, Borough Park, Mapleton, Midwood and Homecrest.
