Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. The NYPD are searching for three men wanted for sexually assaulting and robbing a woman in her apartment. The 47-year-old victim was in her apartment on Ocean Parkway and Avenue P when the three assailants forced their way inside the apartment. The three men took the victim's money, jewelry, and electronics before fleeing. (AMNY)
  2. The city has opened dozens of cooling centers throughout Brooklyn as a heat advisory in Kings County remains in effect. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s throughout the weekend, with the heat index reaching above 100 in certain areas. The city's "Cool It! NYC" initiative has also worked to bring cooling features such as public pools, sprinklers, and shady trees in public spaces. (Brownstoner)
  3. One FDNY firefighter was injured while battling a fire on Butler Street on Thursday night. The blaze began shortly before 10 p.m. and took over an hour to bring under control. The first responder was rushed to a nearby hospital but suffered only minor injuries. (Patch)
  4. Two men are wanted for assaulting a man in an unprovoked attack at the Langston Hughes NYCHA development. The 58-year-old victim was approached by an unknown man who began punching him, before moving outside where another attacker punched him in the back of the head. Both suspects fled the scene on foot while paramedics arrived to treat the victim. (AMNY)
  5. The Apple Store near Barclay's Center has been temporarily closed while undergoing renovations. The business filed plans with the city for plumbing, HVAC, and interior renovations. (Patch)
