- Brooklyn-born actor Paul Sorvino has died of natural causes at the age of 83. Sorvino was born in Brooklyn in 1939 and is known for his roles in "Goodfellas" and "Law & Order." The Bensonhurst native went to Lafayette High School before pursuing his acting career. (Patch)
- A Brooklyn man was arrested after allegedly beating his neighbor to death. NYPD officers responded to a 911 call at 7:23 p.m. on July 23, finding 77-year-old Elenora Bernard in her home with bruising and swelling across her body. Andre Hooper, 51, was arrested on Monday in connection to the incident which has been ruled a homicide. (AMNY)
- A 29 year old was left in critical condition after being struck by his own vehicle on the Belt Parkway. The driver was standing outside of his disabled car early on Friday morning when his car was struck by another vehicle which was trying to swerve around him. His own car was then rotated and swung into him, causing severe head trauma. (Patch)
- A subway passenger was struck and killed by a J train on Monday morning. The person was at the Marcy Avenue station in Williamsburg when they were struck just after 9 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene. The incident halted J and M train service between Brooklyn and Manhattan. (Patch)
- A 17-year-old boy has been questioned in connection to a deadly stabbing in East Flatbush. Shanelle Colquhoun, 26, was attacked at her Beverly Road residence at around 11:30 p.m., and was found with multiple stab wounds to her neck and arms. The teenage suspect was taken into custody at the scene and taken to 67th Precinct. (AMNY)
