Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. A pedestrian was hit and killed in a Tuesday morning crash at a snowy, busy intersection. The 64-year-old woman was walking at the intersection of Foster Avenue and 17th Street when she was struck by a driver in a gray Chevrolet. She was taken to Kings County Hospital where she was pronounced dead. (Streetsblog New York)
  2. A Brooklyn man and a dog he had been walking were electrocuted by a metal grate on a Greenpoint sidewalk, resulting in the death of the dog. According to Con Edison, an investigation found that the customer had removed a privately owned streetlamp and installed a metal grate. EMS claimed that the dog owner's friend, who had been walking the dog, refused medical treatment at the scene. (ABC 7 NY)
  3. A 23 year old who was hit by a Q train at Barclays Center Station has died due to his injuries. Devon Smalls had been in critical condition since the incident on Dec. 18, 2021. Smalls' death marks the third fatality of the past year of New Yorkers hit by subway trains. (Brooklyn Reader)
