Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. While the 65th annual Puerto Rican Day Parade marched throughout New York City, Brooklyn held two of its own parades. Parades were held in Bushwick and Sunset Park, both of which marked the return of the festivities since the beginning of the pandemic. The community participation was strong as thousands joined in the festivities. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. A Crown Heights man has been missing from his home for months. Jacob Aristomene, 34, was last seen leaving his Weeksville home on March 18. Nearly three months since his disappearance, police are still looking for information as to his whereabouts. (Patch)
  3. A train tunnel between Brooklyn and Manhattan was engulfed with smoke during the rush hour commute on Wednesday morning. The MTA reported the smoke at about 9 a.m., which eventually led to significant delays and miscommunications on the red line. It was not immediately clear what caused the smoke. (Patch)
  4. A teenager was stabbed in the face and neck earlier this week while waiting for a train at a Brooklyn subway station. The 16-year-old victim was standing on the platform at the Broadway Junction station on Sunday night when he was attacked by two suspects. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to recover, while the two attackers remain at large. (NBC New York)
  5. Two moped riders were caught on surveillance footage stealing a woman's purse from behind before riding off. The 41-year-old victim was walking on the sidewalk at Eighth Avenue and 57th Street on Sunday when the suspects rode up and snatched the handbag. The victim suffered injuries to her hands and face upon falling to the ground, while the suspects made off with the woman's cell phone, and $700. (PIX11 New York News)
