Suspected Gunman In Brooklyn Club Mass Shooting Charged, Feds Say

After the suspect's arraignment on Wednesday, one additional suspected gunman remains at large.

BROOKLYN, NY — One of the shooters involved in a mass shooting at a Brooklyn club that killed three people dead and left 10 others wounded in August has been charged, federal prosecutors announced on Wednesday.

Elijah Roy, 25, of Brooklyn, was taken into custody on Sept. 18 and faces assault in-aid-of racketeering and with being a felon in possession of ammunition charges, prosecutors said.

Roy is allegedly a member of the 5-9 Brims gang, which is a subset of the Bloods. The shooting stemmed from a dispute between two rival gangs, according to prosecutors.

“As alleged, the defendant and other associates of a violent gang unleashed gunfire in the middle of a crowded bar, creating a killing zone that, in a matter of seconds, left three people dead, and 10 victims wounded,” United States Attorney Joseph Nocella said. “Such a flagrant disregard for human life will not go unpunished, and this prosecution underscores the resolve of our Office and law enforcement to eradicate gangs in the district. It is my hope that this arrest will give some comfort to the victims’ loved ones and the traumatized survivors of this heinous crime.”

Marvin St. Louis, 19, sparked the deadly gunfight on Aug. 17 when he allegedly opened fire on Jamel Childs, 35 — a known member of the Folk Nation gang — inside Taste of the City lounge in Crown Heights, Patch previously reported.

Childs returned fire, and two more men quickly joined the shootout.

Both St. Louis and Childs were killed in the exchange, along with 27-year-old Amadou Diallo, who police later confirmed was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire.

After Roy's arraignment on Wednesday, one additional suspected gunman remains at large.

An investigation remains ongoing.
