BROOKLYN, NY — A taxi driver was shot in the face following an alleged argument with a passenger early Monday morning in Brooklyn, police said.

The incident happened around 1:40 a.m., near East 101 Street and Flatlands Avenue in Canarsie, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Authorities say the 54-year-old taxi driver and his passenger were arguing when the cab pulled over. The passenger then exited the vehicle, and the driver heard a loud bang, realizing he had been shot in the cheek, police said.

The victim was admitted to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.

Police have no description of the suspect and cannot confirm which direction he may have fled.
