Third Teen Arrested For Taking NYC Subway Train On Joyride

A 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged on Thursday, police said.

BROOKLYN, NY — A third teenager has been arrested this week after a group of kids stole a subway train in Brooklyn and took it for a joyride last week.

A 15-year-old was arrested and charged on Thursday. He faces reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and criminal trespassing charges, police said.

On Monday, a 15-year-old and 17-year-old boy were arrested, and were both charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and criminal trespass, Patch previously reported.

The Jan. 25 incident happened around 10:20 p.m. at the 36th Street and 4th Avenue subway station in Sunset Park, police said.

A group of six individuals gained entry to an unoccupied "R" train and then proceeded to operate the train down a tunnel.

The group also damaged glass panels on the train's camera before getting off the train and fleeing on foot, police said.

An MTA employee reported the incident to police, who responded to the scene.

Three other suspects were still at large on Thursday, police said.

No other arrests have been made, and an investigation remains ongoing.
