Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:

  1. Two people are in custody, and a third remains at large following an incident that involved a police shooting on Thursday night. Police said that investigators opened fire after a car stop involving a stolen vehicle went wrong, and a second car nearly struck the officers investigating the vehicle. There are no injuries reported in connection with the incident. (AMNY)
  2. Friday was sentencing day for Joseph Desmond, the man who killed an off-duty firefighter during a road rage incident in December 2018. Desmond was convicted of murder of 33-year-old Faizal Coto after the two men got into a minor accident near the Verrazzano Bridge. They both pulled over to the side of the road where Desmond struck Coto with a heavy object before fleeing. (ABC7 New York)
  3. A pair of Brooklyn men arrested for their involvement in a September home invasion pleaded guilty on Thursday to attempted murder and endangering the welfare of a child. The two men forced their way into an apartment on Hasbrouck Drive in Garnerville on Sept. 7, before forcing two children to remain silent while the ransacked the residence and proceeded to pistol-whip and shoot at the adult resident. Dwayne Holmes and Keinone Wilson, 39 and 36 years old respectively, will both likely face at least 10 years. (Patch)
  4. An unknown suspect is wanted after attacking a 67-year-old man with a ladder near Beaumont Street and Hampton Avenue. Officials say that the victim was standing outside of his home when the suspect approached, screaming obscenities and then throwing a ladder at him. The victim suffered minor head injuries, and the suspect remains at large. (NBC New York)
