Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. An Uber driver is in recovery after being shot in the back while letting a customer out of his vehicle. The 39-year-old driver was parked near the corner of Ocean Avenue and Farragut Road in Flatbush when the unknown suspect approached his vehicle and fired at him. Fortunately, the shot only grazed the victim, and he is expected to make a full recovery. No arrests have yet been made in connection with this incident. (AMNY)
  2. A soon-to-open cannabis themed smoke shop has drawn the ire of many Brooklyn Heights residents. The Exotic Smoke Shop's sign features a large skull and neon lights, which breaks NYC's strict Landmarks Preservation Commission rules. Residents are concerned about the shop's proximity to many local schools, and its flashy signage, which is seemingly geared towards the youth. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
  3. A Canarsie gas station was robbed at gunpoint on Feb. 8 on Flatlands Avenue. Just after midnight, two suspects entered the gas station store and managed to steal the cashier's cell phone along with $500 from the cash register. Anyone with any information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). (CBS New York)
