Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

1. The search continues for a suspect wanted for beating a 22-year-old woman with a mop handle in a possible hate crime attack in March. According to the NYPD, the attack occurred on March 27 when the victim was standing outside of a house on Utica Avenue, when she was approached by the suspect who proceeded to make derogatory remarks about sexual orientation. The suspect then attacked the victim, before fleeing on a Kings Plaza-bound B46 bus. The victim was treated for a concussion and a laceration to her forehead. (NBC New York)
2. The Brooklyn Urban Garden Charter School (BUGS) recently celebrated the opening of its first hydroponic farm-classroom. Green Mountain Energy Sun Club and NY Sun Works representatives joined the middle schoolers and school staff for a ribbon cutting ceremony and sampled some of the produce grown in the classroom. The facility at BUGS provides 6th through 8th graders with hands-on experience and science education. (CSRwire.com)
3. An incident involving an MTA bus and a passenger vehicle on Thursday morning left at least one person injured. The collision occurred on Avenue U in Gravesend around 9:35 a.m., and one passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. (Local Accident Reports)
4. Nurses at Woodhull Hospital have taken the opportunity presented by National Nurses Month to reflect on the immense challenges that they have faced since the onset of the pandemic. When remembering difficult points throughout their careers, all agree that nothing has compared to COVID-19. 5. An NYCHA development in Canarsie launched a new green initiative, and has been providing fresh food to the community, and teaching residents about sustainability. The Bayview Houses have been transformed into a small produce farm by Green City Force, a local organization. (Video: NBC New York)
