Waterfall Trail Opens In Prospect Park After 28 Years
A locked fence hasn't stopped park-goers from off-roading to Fallkill Falls — starting Wednesday, adventurers will have to sneak no more.

PROSPECT PARK, NY — A new waterfall trail opened Wednesday in Prospect Park after being locked behind a fence for decades.
The Brooklyn trail leading to Fallkill Falls has been officially closed since 1995, according to a representative of the park. The trail officially opened Wednesday morning with a ribbon cutting and guided tour of the trail prepped last week by volunteers.
But the broken fence hasn't stopped park-goers from off-roading to Fallkill Falls over the years — and park authorities figured, "if we can’t beat them, let’s join them," Prospect Park Alliance President Morgan Monaco told The New York Times.

"This trail ... now will invite park visitors to get a closer look at the picturesque Fallkill Waterfall and experience the beauty and serenity of Prospect Park's restored urban forest," a representative of Prospect Park said.
Excited trailblazers, though, will find a dry waterfall on their first adventures.
