Woman Beaten To Death By Fellow Patient At NYC Nursing Home: What We Know

BROOKLYN, NY — A 95-year-old woman is accused of allegedly beating a fellow nursing home resident with a piece of metal from her wheelchair on Sunday, police said Monday.

The incident happened at the Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, located at 3015 West 29th St., in Coney Island around 10:30 p.m., police said.

Officers found an 89-year-old woman with severe head trauma. She was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where she was later pronounced dead.

The 95-year-old woman was taken to Coney Island Hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, according to AMNY.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

It is unclear if the 95-year-old woman would be charged.
