Woman Killed By Driver As She Crossed Brooklyn Street, Police Say
An investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.

BROOKLYN, NY — A 68-year-old woman was killed while crossing the street in Brooklyn on Wednesday, police announced Thursday.
The victim, Maurette Lafleur, was crossing from north to south on Rutland Road in a marked crosswalk around 6 p.m. when she was struck by a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC making a left turn from East 95th Street, police said.
EMS responded and transported the pedestrian to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, where she was later pronounced dead.

The 64-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz remained at the scene and no charges have been filed as of Thursday evening, police said.
