BK Woman Who Threw Coffee At Man In Palestinian Scarf Arrested: NYPD
A woman accused of hurling a hot coffee at a man wearing a Palestinian scarf in Brooklyn was arrested and charged Tuesday, police said.

FORT GREENE, NY — A woman accused of making anti-Muslim comments and hurling a hot coffee at a man was arrested Tuesday in Brooklyn, police said.
Hadasa Karavanibozak, 48, of Brooklyn, faces charges including hate crime assault and harassment related to the Nov. 7 attack at Fort Greene's Edmonds Playground.
Police say the woman threw her phone and hot coffee at the man who was wearing a keffiyeh, a scarf that is a symbol of Palestinian nationalism, in broad daylight at the playground on DeKalb Avenue between Adelphi Street and Carlton Avenue.

The woman can be seen on video screaming, "you and your son get away," to the man who said he was playing with his 18-month-old. The man, Ashish Prashar, told New York Magazine the woman said "you and your son are terrorists."
“I’m sad that my son went through it. I’m sad that he has been exposed to this level of hate," Prashar told the Daily News.

City Council Member Crystal Hudson applauded Prashar's bravery in sharing his story.
"I am deeply disappointed that this violent act of bigotry took place in my District. There is no room for this kind of hate and intolerance in our community and in our City," Hudson said in a Tweet. "Thank you [Ashish Prashar] for your bravery in recounting this harrowing experience."
