Community Board 6 to Discuss Pop-Up Pool in Brooklyn Bridge Park

This was supposed to be the pool's fifth and last summer, but many in the community want it to remain.

COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN — If you're passionate about preserving the pool at Brooklyn Bridge Park, you may want to check out the Oct. 4 meeting of Community Board 6.

The board's executive committee will discuss whether the body should author "a resolution to support the retention of a pop-up pool in Brooklyn Bridge Park until a concrete, funded plan is in place for a permanent pool."

The meeting will take place at 6:45 p.m. at the Cobble Hill Community Room, located at 250 Baltic St.

This was the pop-up pool's fifth year, and its land is now scheduled to be turned into a performance space and aquatic play area. But a group of concerned parents have been campaigning for the pool to be saved.

What's more, a study conducted by State Sen. Daniel Squadron found that respondents overwhelmingly want the pool to remain in operation. Squadron also recently told a CB6 meeting that his study showed the pool was used by residents from throughout Brooklyn, which he said proved its broad appeal.
