‘Extensive Delays’ For L Trains After Track Fire Tuesday: MTA

UNION SQUARE — L trains are running with “extensive delays” in both directions following a track fire near 6th Avenue Tuesday morning, officials said.

The track fire has since been extinguished by the FDNY, according to an X post by @NYCTSubway about 8:51 a.m.

“While we bring service back on schedule, as an alternative for travel between Brooklyn and Manhattan, still consider taking J/M trains,” officials said via X.

Smoke stemming from the track fire was first reported by the @NYCTSubway X account about 8:45 a.m.

According to MTA data via the Stringline database, the northbound L train made 27 trips between 8:14 and 9:15 a.m. Tuesday. That's compared to 29 trips the line made during the same morning period.
