Police: Commack Man Drove Drunk on Northern State Parkway

Joseph Izaguirre failed a sobriety test near Exit 41 Wednesday night.

A Commack man was arrested Wednesday and charged with DWI after being pulled over on the Northern State Parkway, police said.

Joseph Izaguirre, 46, was pulled over by police near Exit 41 just after 11 p.m.  after he was observed moving out of his lane unsafely, according to New York State Police.

While talking with Izaguirre, the officer detected the smell of alcohol, police said. He also reportedly demonstrated slurred speech and poor motor coordination.

Izaguirre failed sobriety tests and was placed under arrest and charged with driving while intoxicated as well as traffic violations, police said.

He will be arraigned at Suffolk County First District Court on Wednesday, March 21.
