Deer Park High School Honors 17 Student Champions

DEER PARK, NY — Deer Park High School literally served up the breakfast of champions at the annual spring Breakfast for Champions honoring 17 students on April 17.

Proud families, administrators and teachers gathered to celebrate Deer Park High School students for their outstanding achievements in categories corresponding to school departments. The students also received principal’s and teacher’s awards.

“This is one of those days that really leaves a memorable mark here for us here at Deer Park High School and puts a smile on our faces every year because it allows us to acknowledge students for a multitude of reasons,” Principal Charles Cobb said. “We have students from varied backgrounds and interests here, and I think this brings everybody together.”

The breakfast took place in the school’s library, where a high school string quintet provided the soundtrack for the ceremony. Student musicians included Jayme Lipiec on viola, Eadie Liu and Liana Luc on violin, Lorelai Silverstein on bass and John Susana-Mendez on cello.

Students were honored in 15 school department categories. Awards went to Sophie Joseph (athletics), Summer Eisenberg (business), Muntazir Mehdi (English), Maria Tojin Uz (English as a new language), Nadia Elsergany (family and consumer science), Kasumi Dennis (fine arts), Anaelle Beauchamp (guidance), Ubaid Iqbal (health), Louis DeAngelis (mathematics), Jaden Carbajal (performing arts), Nathaniel Ciuffo (physical education), Daniel Aguila (science), Sara Garcia (social studies), Christopher Pittas (technology), and Saamir Alfred in world languages.

The Principal’s Award went to Dimaunte’ Gardner while Georgios Kagiannis-Juliano took the Teacher’s Award.

“The students seen here show exceptional conduct and character on a daily basis,” Associate Principal Garret Noblett said. “The stories that we will hear today recognize students for all of their achievement, hard work and accomplishments and determination to overcome obstacles. We have students who have either worked on achieving their personal best inside and outside the classroom, demonstrate good citizenship or show compassion to help others. Thank you to the parents and families of our champions who play a key role in helping them get to where they are today.”
