DEER PARK, NY — James Cummings, Superintendent of Deer Park, wrote a letter to the school community on Thursday announcing a two-day closure for Friday, March 13 and Monday, March 16. The closure comes as Suffolk and Nassau cases of the new coronavirus increased daily this week.

Cummings wrote "I have not been informed of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Deer Park Schools. However, I feel that it is necessary to take even more extreme caution as this virus spreads."

Staff will report to plan for any possible longer term closures, he said. The buses will be cleaned and sanitized. All school building use over the weekend was also suspended.
