Firefighters Extinguish Blaze In 2-Story North Babylon Home: FD

Firefighters responded to a fire in a two-story home in North Babylon on Thursday.

NORTH BABYLON, NY –A two-story home in North Babylon was damaged by a fire on Thursday.

North Babylon Fire Department responded to the structure fire on Schenectady Avenue at approximately 2:40 p.m., the fire department posted on its Facebook page.

According to the post, no injuries were reported.

Numerous reports stated that that both smoke and flames were visible from the house, the post said. Assistant Chief Peter Alt instructed dispatch to activate the mutual aid departments immediately for assistance and Assistant Chief Anthony DeAngelis was the first arriving unit.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Town of Babylon and the Suffolk County Police Department Arson squad, according to the fire department.

Mutual aid was provided by West Babylon Volunteer Fire Department, Wyandanch Volunteer Fire Company Incorporated, Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corp., East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company Inc, Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, West Islip Fire Department and Wyandanch Ambulance.

The fire chiefs were not immediately available for comment.
