Police Seek To Identify Human Remains Found In North Babylon: Police

Authorities are seeking help to identify the remains of a man found in North Babylon in February of last year, police say.

NORTH BABYLON, NY — Police are asking the public for help in identifying human remains discovered in North Babylon last year, according to Suffolk County Police.

Authorities have released the sketch of what the man is believed to have looked like after his remains were found near Southards Pond Park in February of last year. They are asking for the public's help with identifying him, police said.

According to Suffolk PD, authorities received a 911 call on February 15, 2023, at around 1 p.m., reporting skeletal remains in a wooded area of Southards Pond Park, south of Sunrise Highway.

An investigation conducted by Homicide Squad detectives determined that the cause of death was non-criminal, police said.

According to police, the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office believes the remains to be of a Black male between the ages of 25 and 40 between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 5 inches tall.

Police said the man had been dead for around two years before his body was found.

He was wearing a black jacket with “Nike Running” printed on the sleeve, black pants with black and white basketball sneakers and a gray running hat, police said. They are still investigating whether a backpack located near the body belonged to the man.
