Cops: Drunken Driver Arrested in East Hampton, Blue Pill Rode Shotgun

East Hampton Village police reported one DWI arrest this week.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• A Medford man was arrested in East Hampton Village on Aug. 16 after police said he was driving drunk.

Joseph James Dill, who is 27, was stopped in a 2010 Jeep Wrangler on Montauk Highway, near Cove Hollow Road, for reportedly speeding at about 2:30 a.m. Police said he was driving 66 mph in a 30 mph zone.

He appeared intoxicated and failed all field sobriety tests, police said. An officer searched his Jeep and found a blue pill marked with a label of COR132 in a black bag. Such pills are a type of amphetamine.

Dill was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor as his blood alcohol level was reportedly above .18, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, also a misdemeanor, and speeding.

He was released on $1,000 bail.
