Cranberry Hole Road Bridge Reopens After Quick Repair

Wooden beams that provide subsurface support to the asphalt roadway were repaired Wednesday night.

The small bridge on Cranberry Hole Road, which runs over the train tracks in Amagansett, has been reopened after repairs.

The bridge reopened at about 9 on Wednesday evening, according to Aaron Donovan, the deputy director for external communications at the Long Island Rail Road. 

He said LIRR personnel repaired the wood beams, known as timbers, that provide subsurface support the asphalt roadway.

The bridge was closed on Wednesday after town workers found the beam was in need of repair.
