The Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum will hold its annual Lighthouse Weekend on Saturday and Sunday with fun for the whole family.
There will be colonial toys and games, the Coast Guard Auxiliary will provide boat safety tips, and there will be performances by Kings of the Coast Pirates Acting Troupe. Stuart Vorphal will give trap fishing demonstrations, and Steve Crawford will offer traditional leather crafting demonstrations.
Montauk Point Lighthouse Historian Henry Osmers, the author of "On Eagle's Beak," "Living on the Edge," and "They Were All Strangers," will sign books.
There will also be performances by 18th century sailors, face painting, and maritime music by Sumpwam's Creek.
The entertainment takes place on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Most of the event will take place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Admission is $9 for adults (ages 13 to 61), $7 for seniors (62 and older), and
$4 for children (41 inches in height up to age 12). Children under 41 inches in height are
free, but due to safety concerns they may not climb the lighthouse tower nor be carried up
the tower.
New York State charges $8 per vehicle to park in the Montauk State Park parking lot.
