11th Long Island Gingerbread House Competition Held In Farmingdale: Results
Contestants constructed edible gingerbread houses with the theme of Long Island Literary Figures.

FARMINGDALE, NY — The 11th Long Island Gingerbread House Competition was hosted by the Village of Farmingdale’s Cultural Arts Committee at The Chocolate Duck on Dec. 7, the village announced.
The competition featured adult and youth divisions, as well as amateur and professional divisions. The theme for this year’s competition was Long Island Literary Figures. Contestants could interpret the theme as they wished or enter any form of gingerbread or chocolate construction that they wanted. With the exceptions of any lighting and the board it was displayed on, the entire construction had to be edible.
In the open/professional division, Jean Schapowal of Hicksville interpreted the theme in a creative take, as her entry was an open book in the library.
