American Airpower Museum Of Long Island To Host Valentine's Day C-47 Scenic Flights
Couples will get to fly in the museum's iconic World War II C-47 Skytrain 'Second Chance,' the same type of troop transport used in D-Day.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Love will be in the air at Farmingdale's American Airpower Museum on Valentine's Day — as will the museum's vintage warbirds.
Long Island’s only flying aviation museum is set to conduct two Valentine’s Day C-47 Scenic Flights for eight couples on Feb. 14 — one at 11 a.m. and the other at noon; the museum announced in a news release. There will be eight people on board each 20-minute flight to Long Island’s scenic coast, then back to Republic Airport and Hangar 3.
"We are honored and proud to host this romantic and patriotic event," said Jeff Clyman, AAM president, in a news release. "Couples who participate will have a chance to fly in AAM’s iconic World War II C-47 Skytrain 'Second Chance,' the same type of troop transport that took part in the historic D-Day Invasion."

People were urged to bring their cameras or smart phones, as there will be photo opportunities during and after each flight. Participants were also urged to dress in period attire and make the event all that more special, the museum stated.
Flights are weather permitting; the rain date is scheduled for Feb. 16.

After the lovebirds touch down and taxi back to Hangar 3 after each flight, they will have a chance to spend the day enjoying the museum's iconic collection of World War II bombers and fighters, many of which are fully restored and fly in the Jones Beach Air Shows and other events throughout the Northeast. AAM will also provide cake and coffee or tea for all the couples.
AAM’s Scenic Flights will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee is $350 per couple or $195 to fly alone.
To book a flight, people may call the AAM’s Gift Shop Wednesday through Sunday, between 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., at 631-293-6398, or call 516-531-3950, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Regular American Airpower Museum admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and veterans, and $10 for children 5-12.
