Bedgear, High Performance Bedding, Opens in Farmingdale
New firm holds grand opening; has 35 local employees, 85 globally.

Bedgear, a high performance bedding company that says it is revolutionizing the sleep and recovery business category has opened its doors in Farmingdale.
Bedgear is not a franchise but a single Farmingdale-based company specializing in performance bedding – protectors, sheets and pillows.
Founded by Eugene Auletto, the company's CEO and "Quarterback," the firm has 35 employees in Farmingdale and 85 around the world. It has grown rapidly over the past five years from a handful of workers to its current force.
"We have grown significantly over the last three years expanding not only in employee size but in office space," said Susan Martin, a spokeswoman for Bedgear. "This past spring we started to overhaul our expanded space to include a full showroom, research and development department and expanded warehouse.
Bedgear, located at 110 Bi-County Blvd., Suite 101 in Farmingdale, cut the ribbon on the completed showroom last month during a three-day company summit. The company's revenue has also seen a steady climb, Martin said. "People are willing to spend on sleep," she said.
The company was recently featured in "Crain's Fast 50."
Bedgear built their business in a product market where everyone was focused on selling basic goods at the cheapest price, and forcing the customer to commit through fear-focused warranty selling, said Shana Rocheleau, vice president of Strategic Development.
"Companies were not paying attention to the person, only unit sales."
"Bedgear researched and responded to consumer's needs to find bedding products to help them sleep cool, create personalized performance sleep environments and improve the quality of the time they spend in bed," she said.
Consumers have recognized that an investment in better sleep is an investment in improving their lives, from basic health and fitness to enhanced achievement in their activities, Rocheleau said.
"We set out to put more into our products, real performance based on breathability, heat dissipation and moisture evaporation, helping your body to better regulate its temperature at night ensuring you maximize your sleep recovery."
