Cops: Thieves Targeting Items in Cars

Police report 10 thefts from area cars, including a bumper taken off a car parked at Farmingdale LIRR station.

Thieves targeted 10 cars around the Second Precinct within one week, including the theft of a tailgate stolen from a vehicle parked in the LIRR station lot at Farmingdale, police said.

Cars in Jericho, Syosset, Levittown, Woodbury, Oyster Bay, Plainview and Hicksville had items stolen from them, including catalytic convertors, pocketbooks, tires and rims, and tailgates, cops said.

In Syosset, cars parked at Friendly's, Syosset-Woodbury Community Park, and Equinox in Woodbury were reportedly burglarized. In all three break-ins, pocketbooks were stolen from the cars, cops said.

The Second Precinct reported the following crimes:

  • April 10: Grand larceny; Texaco gas station, Jericho; catalytic converter stolen from car.
  • April 10: Grand larceny; Friendly's, Syosset; pocketbook removed from car. 
  • April 11: Petit larceny; Cornflower Road, Levittown; bottle of wine, gloves stolen from car.
  • April 12: Grand larceny; Equinox, Woodbury; pocketbook stolen from car. 
  • April 12: Grand larceny; Advantage Hyundai, Hicksville; tires and rims stolen from two cars.
  • April 12: Petit larceny; Red Rockets Tattoo, Levittown; pocketbook removed from car.
  • April 13: Petit larceny; Spring Street, Oyster Bay; license plates removed from car.
  • April 14: Grand larceny; Syosset-Woodbury Park, Woodbury; pocketbook stolen from car.
  • April 14: Grand larceny; Johns Farms, Plainview; damage to car, wallet and cash stolen.
  • April 15: Petit larceny; Farmingdale LIRR; tailgate stolen from car.
