had four teams named Scholar Athlete State Champions this fall by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.
Superintendent John Lorentz and High School Principal Glen Zakian made the announcement at the January school board meeting, explaining that the distinction means that these teams had some of the highest GPAs in New York State.
- Girls Swimming and Diving Team: 99.042 GPA
- Boys Cross Country Team: 99.250 GPA
- Girls Soccer Team: 97.760 GPA
- Boys Soccer Team: 96.597 GPA
"These four this year are the 15th out of the last five years that we've had," Zakian said. "When you think about the numbers and sheer volume of public schools in the state of New York, Farmingdale won 20 percent of the state scholar athlete awards for the fall seasons."
