Driver Escapes SUV Blaze in Melville
The incident occurred Saturday afternoon, police say.
The driver of an SUV that burst into flames in Melville Saturday managed to escape unharmed, authorities said.
Melville Fire Department volunteers responded to the fully involved fire in a Ford Bronco on Old Country Road near Wintergreen Drive at about 4 p.m. The fire was triggered by an electrical short that caused the SUV to stall and burst into flames, officials said.

About 20 firefighters were on the scene with three Melville fire engines and fire personnel. Firefighters quickly had the flames under control, led by Third Assistant Chief Chris Nolan, officials said.
