Empty in Farmingdale: Former Theater

Walk down Main Street or drive down Route 110 and Hempstead Turnpike and you will notice many boarded up storefronts adorned with "For Rent" signs, an indication of the hard times the area -- and country -- are facing.
The Village of Farmingdale mayor and board of trustees they hope will and fill the empty sites with businesses and housing.

This week's property is the former Arena Players Theater on Route 109, to the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport. This departure came at the same time Farmingdale
Owner and the 61-year-old theater troop had been a staple in Farmingdale. The building consists of two stages and remains empty nearly six months later.

The property has been managed by several realtors who say that there has been interest in the space, specifically one group interested in turning it into a warehouse and another into a massage parlor. Both did not pan out because of anticipated spacial and permit issues.
The space is 7,500 square feet and the asking price is approximately $12 per foot, around $165,000.
