Florida Man Critically Injured In Suffolk Crash: Police

The man crashed into a large storage container and then a utility pole after losing control of his car, police say.

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY — A Florida man was critically injured in a one-car crash in East Farmingdale on Monday night, Suffolk police said.

Jorge Paulino Vargas, 35, of Melbourne, was driving a 1993 Honda Civic eastbound on Toledo Street, at the intersection of Lenox Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and crashed into a large storage container and then a utility pole at approximately 6:40 p.m., police said.

Paulino Vargas suffered critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The Honda was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash was asked by police to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
