FARMINGDALE, NY – The American Airpower Museum (AAM) continues its C-47 Living History Flight Experiences this Saturday.

These historic flights, which will be flown by licensed pilots, some ex-military or reserves, will demonstrate a glimpse of what 82nd and 101st Airborne Paratroopers experienced during D-Day, according to a release.

This educational program will have professional reenactors on board the restored WWII C-47 to give an immersive experience.

The AAM is a not-for-profit educational foundation, and according to a release, its mission is to teach Long Islanders about the important role American airpower had in defending the US during WWII.

Participants will be given a briefing before boarding, and will then fly over Long Island’s south shore beaches, including Jones Beach. They will be dressed in authentic reproduction M-42/M-43 field jackets, replica “Steel Pot” G.I. helmets, and a simulated jump harness– but no jumping will occur. The crew will simulate a living history reenactment for participants.
