Funeral Services Set For Farmingdale Woman, 24, Killed In Crash

FARMINGDALE, NY — Funeral services for a 24-year-old Farmingdale woman who was fatally struck by a car on Jan. 24 are scheduled for Saturday morning.

Marisa Piazza will have a funeral service held 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church, located at 70 Rockaway St., Islip Terrace, according to the Frederick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Care.

Piazza died Monday, three days after the crash, Nassau police said.

Piazza was crossing the road near Spencer and West Chestnut streets when she was hit by a 2018 Jeep driven by a 35-year-old man around 7:05 p.m. Jan. 24, police said. The driver was making a left turn onto Spencer Street, police said. Piazza was brought to a local hospital by police ambulance, the department said. The driver remained at scene, and no other injuries were reported, police said.

Piazza's family has chosen to send donations to Promise of Hope Foundation.

Promise of Hope Foundation is dedicated to providing assistance, encouragement and support to individuals, families and other foundations in need, according to the nonprofit's website.

"Our desire is to provide hope and improve the challenges and needs that exist within our community everyday," the foundation stated. "The Promise of Hope Foundation is a versatile organization committed to instilling hope, positive empowerment and offering assistance through fundraising and charitable events."

Piazza worked as a case manager for The Fortune Society, which helps individuals with justice involvement rebuild their lives through innovative services and advocacy, before her death. She previously worked as a case manager at the Family Service League, according to her LinkedIn profile.
