On July 27 members of the Women’s Club of Farmingdale (WCF) donated gift cards from Target and Walmart totaling over $1,000 to St. Kilian’s Outreach to help prepare local school children for the start of another school year. These gift cards will be used to purchase backpacks and school supplies for qualifying local students and will be distributed in conjunction with the Farmingdale School District social workers. A special “thank-you” to member, Margaret Barrett, who raised over $500 and to a generous donation from the Farmingdale Adult Day Care Center. This WCF annual tradition will go a long way in assuring that local school children will have the supplies they need to make the most of their education. In addition, members will be stopping by the Outreach Center throughout July and August to make much needed food donations.
This year, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, Inc. (GFWC) held their annual International Convention from June 25-28, 2022 in New Orleans, LA. The theme for this year’s event was “Catch the Volunteer Spirit and Let the Good Times Roll!” Convention host, GFWC South Central Region, rolled out the red carpet with a “Fais do-do” Celebration Banquet that brought out the best of New Orleans to every table and had everyone dancing to a Cajun beat. On the morning of June 25, the day began with the Opening Ceremony Processional and 2020-2022 GFWC International President Marian St.Clair officially welcoming the membership to the Convention during the Saturday Morning Business Session. Throughout the Convention, the Business Sessions demonstrated members’ interest and commitment to the Resolutions process. Delegates participated in the consideration of Resolutions with questions, discussion, proposed amendments, vote(s) of opposition and approval, and votes to refer back to committee. Thank you to our WCF members who participated: Linda Kreussling, Tina Diamond and Vicky Impollonia.

Throughout the year, another tradition takes place with members gathering at the Farmingdale Adult Day Care Center to regale the membership with patriotic songs commemorating our country’s independence.
