FARMINGDALE, NEW YORK (AUGUST 2023) — Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) honored Farmingdale residents Gina Brinskelle, Celeste Tziamihas, Melissa Graziadei and Yolanda Williams at its 2023 Annual Adult Recognitions Award Ceremony and Dinner. The annual event recognizes and celebrates the adult volunteers who go above and beyond for their service to Girl Scouts of Nassau County and to their communities. Ms. Brinskelle, Ms. Tziamihas, Ms. Graziadei and Ms. Williams were among 100 honorees throughout Nassau County.

“Girl Scouts of Nassau County could not thrive without the hard work, commitment and support of all our community volunteers. Each honoree recognized at our Adult Recognitions Award Ceremony and Dinner has made a significant impact on our organization and help shape the Girl Scout experience for the girls we serve. Thanks to their contributions, we are able to continue building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place,” said Randell Bynum, the CEO of Girl Scouts of Nassau County.

Gina Brinskelle and Celeste Tziamihas were both awarded the GSUSA Appreciation Pin. Ms. Brinkselle has been a co-leader for six years and has gone above and beyond planning meetings, keeping girls on task and making sure they have everything they need to earn their badges. Ms. Tziamihas role models selfless community service. She innovated and ran a holiday gift packing operation, through which girls shopped for gifts for those in need to help them understand how to care for others their own age. Ms. Tziamihas is always making sure meetings are meaningful and organized and has challenged the girls with lessons associated with NASA citizen science, playful dress up, and safe/useful cooking skills.

Melissa Graziadei and Yolanda Williams both earned the GSNC Longevity Pin for leading their troops from when they started their Girl Scout careers as Daisies until they became Ambassadors as seniors in high school. Both of Ms. Williams’s daughters also earned their Gold Awards, the highest honor a Girl Scout could achieve.
