LI Man 'Tortured' Dog By Shooting Flame At It, Grabbing By Neck: PD

He was arrested for the second time in 2 days and found with crack cocaine, police say.

SOUTH FARMINGDALE, NY — A Wyandanch man was arrested twice in two days after shooting a flame at a dog and being found with crack, police said.

According to Nassau County police, the man, 30, was first arrested on Saturday at 12:52 pm. in South Farmingdale and charged with violating an order of protection. He was also found in possession of a white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine, police said.

During the investigation, it was revealed that he was at the same South Farmingdale residence on Friday, police said. While in the backyard, he used a lighter to shoot a large flame at a 1-year-old English Bulldog, police said.

He additionally grabbed the dog by its excess skin at the neck, as he twisted and pulled the dog off the ground; the dog tried to bite him to get free, police said.

The man was arrested and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; second-degree criminal contempt; second-degree harassment; torturing or injuring an animal; and aggravated cruelty to animals, police said.

He was arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
