Plane That Departed From Farmingdale Crashes, Kills 2 In MA

A husband and wife from Long Island on board the plane were killed when it crashed near Hanscom Field in Massachusetts Saturday.

A plane that took off from Long Island and was bound for Woburn, Massachusetts crashed late Saturday morning, killing a husband and wife on board.

According to the FAA, the Columbia Aircraft LC41 crashed in a wooded area four miles from Hanscom Field in Massachusetts.

According to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, husband and wife, Dr. Michael Graver, 65, and Jodi Cohen, 52, of Manhasset were killed in the crash. The plane took off from Republic Airport in Farmingdale shortly after 9:30 a.m., Ryan said.

The flight was scheduled to land shortly after 11 a.m. at Hanscom, according to Ryan. Police began received 911 calls about a plane crash around 11:03 a.m., Ryan said.

Ryan said it was their understanding that Graver was a "very experienced pilot."

Woburn Mayor Scott Galvin said it was a "miracle" no one on the ground was injured when the plane crashed near Minchin Drive.

Neighbors described to WCVB an explosion that "sounded like the end of the world."

State and Woburn Police are responding. The NTSB and FAA is also investigating. No foul play is suspected.
