Road Closures, Heavy Delays Anticipated For Drivers Heading To Ryder Cup

FARMINGDALE, NY — Golf enthusiasts will descend on Bethpage State Park for the Ryder Cup next week.

Expect heavy traffic on the roads surrounding the golf course, plus President Trump is expected to visit the Ryder Cup on Friday.

Additionally, there will be a "significantly increased law enforcement presence in and around Bethpage State Park," New York State Police said.

As for the road closures:

Round Swamp Road will be shut from Winding Road to Quaker Meeting House Road

Saturday, September 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 21, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

From Monday, Sept. 22 (6 a.m.) until Monday, Sept, 29 (6 a.m.), Round Swamp Road will be closed from Winding Road to Quaker Meeting House Road.

Quaker Meeting House Road will be closed from Tuesday, September 23 through Sunday, September 28 each day from 4:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Clubhouse Road from Bethpage State Parkway will be closed except for rideshare vehicles starting September 23 from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily.

Weapons will not be permitted in the park except for on-duty, authorized law enforcement personnel assigned to the event, state police said.
