Umberto's of New Hyde Park Adds New Location, For Total Of 6 Across Long Island
Family-run Umberto's expands their popular restaurant.

FARMINGDALE, NY – Umberto's of New Hyde Park now has six locations across Long Island, with a newly-added Farmingdale spot.
The family-run business turns 60 years old this year — it first opened its doors in 1965 with its original New Hyde Park location.
Owner Umberto Corteo, 83, came from Italy and opened his first business in Brooklyn, and then moved to Long Island.

"Every town has a different feel to it, and he really likes Long Island because it's all community," spokeswoman Katie Sakowich said.
On it being a family-run business, Sakowich said the restaurant is like the family's home, and Long Island is special to them.

"No matter what happens in the day or your life, the best thing to do is sit around with your family and enjoy a good meal," Umberto said.
The new location comes in the same year that the Plainview location shuttered.
Umberto Corteo operates the Lake Grove, Bellmore, Manhasset, Massapequa Park, New Hyde Park, and now Farmingdale locations. His brother Carlo Corteo operates the locations in Wantagh, Sayville, Oyster Bay, and Glen Cove.
"We want to start moving out more to Suffolk County since most of our demographic and people who grew up with us are starting to move more out east, so we want to start to move with them," Umberto said.
