Vigil Held For 80-Year-Old Veteran Killed In Hit-And-Run: Report

SOUTH FARMINGDALE, NY — Community members gathered for the vigil of 80-year-old Vietnam veteran Peter Morris, who was killed on Friday in a hit-and-run, ABC7 said.
According to ABC7, the vigil was held in South Farmingdale on Veterans Day.
The Vietnam vet was killed on the morning of the same day he attended a Veterans Day celebration at his granddaughter's elementary school, Newsday said.

According to Nassau County police, Peter Morris of South Farmingdale was struck by a stolen car operated by Randy Colon of Hicksville. Colon, of Hicksville, fled the scene on foot, and officers located him nearby and placed him under arrest, police said.
Colon was charged with second-degree manslaughter, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth-degree grand larceny, and leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death, police said.
