A massive search for a jet skier who went missing Sunday night, ended happily when he was found unharmed in the waters off the South Shore, Nassau police said.
A 50-year-old man was riding with a friend when his jet ski became disabled in a marshy area off the Great South Bay at 8:30 p.m. He was unable to get back to shore, and the friend went to get help.
But when he returned to the area, his friend was nowhere to be found. Police Marine and aviation units were dispatched and the Coast Guard joined the search along with Bay Constables from the Towns of Oyster Bay and Hempstead.
The jet ski was recovered and towed to Wantagh Park and the missing man was located swimming to shore in Massapequa.
He was unharmed and refused medical attention.
