Wave of New Merchants in Downtown Farmingdale

More than a dozen businesses have opened or are in the planning stages.

A variety of new businesses have opened their doors in downtown Farmingale in recent months, a sign village officials say is the beginning of a rebirth downtown.

“We are thrilled to welcome new businesses to Farmingdale Village," said Mayor Ralph Ekstrand. "The caliber of shops and merchants continue to offer a dynamic variety of shopping, dining and entertainment experiences.”

The village has seen a wide variety of new businesses including restaurants, retail shops, a yoga studio and a gaming center.

“The Village continues to attract new businesses with a quick approval process, plus we offer a grant for signs, lights and awnings. A program exists that subsidizes 80 percent paid for by a village grant.

  • The Rolling Spring Roll (Vietnamese Food)
  • La Bottega (Italian Gourmet, Panini, salads and more)
  • Satya Yoga Studio
  • A Taste of Long Island (Specialty Food Market and Commercial Kitchen)
  • 3 Brothers Pizza Café ( Regular and Vegan menu)
  • Empire Gaming (Gaming/Comic shop)
  • UVA Wine & Spirits
  • The DiVine Olive (fine oils & vinegars)
  • Phoenix Eastern Medical Center
  • Parcel Management Auditing & Consulting
There has also been two significant expansions, including at Cascarino’s and at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, which has enlarged its church office and activity rooms.

Village officials said several new businesses are in the planning stages and could open soon: They include: Café Dolce Vita, Dark Horse Tavern, Thomas & Ellen, Charlotte’s Frozen Yogurt, Blue Hawaiian Restaurant, and a Farmingdale Diner.

The village, home to more than 9,000 residents and 200 businesses, has approved several construction projects that are moving forward, officials said.
