Person Rescued Near Fire Island Inlet: NYS Park Police

FIRE ISLAND, NY β€”Rescuers pulled a stranded person out of the water near Fire Island over the weekend after they were swept away, New York State Park Police told Patch.

Around 10 p.m., the Suffolk County Police aviation and marine units, Suffolk County police water and air teams, along with state police, the U.S. Coast Guard, and state park police, were all called to search for the person.

Fishermen later found the individual on the platform of a piling, police said.

They were then taken to a hospital. It wasn't immediately clear if they were hurt.
