84-Year-Old Man Punched, Kicked And Hospitalized After Crash: PD

The man was exchanging information with another motorist when a 51-year-old arrived and punched him in the face, police say.

WOODMERE, NY. — A 51-year-old man was arrested Friday after punching and kicking an 84-year-old who was exchanging information after a Tuesday morning traffic incident, police said.

According to Nassau County police, Woodmere resident Sharon Zharfati, 51, was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault.

According to department officials, the 84-year-old man was driving a Dodge when he struck a Tesla on Broadway in Woodmere. As the 84-year-old was exchanging information with the 47-year-old woman driving the Tesla, Zharfati arrived at the scene, took the 84-year-old’s notepad from his hands and punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.

Zharfati then kicked the man in the head and fled the scene before police arrived, authorities said.

The 84-year-old was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment after the incident, police said.
