Bellerose Fire Fleet Gets $938K For New Fire Truck

The funding was included in a congressional appropriations package announced Monday.

BELLEROSE, NY. — The Village of Bellerose will see a new fire truck in the coming years thanks to a $938,000 funding allocation from the federal government, announced by Congresswoman Laura Gillen Tuesday.

The funding was allocated under the 2026 Continuing Appropriations Act, and will fund a new addition to a fleet containing some of what Gillen called, “some of the oldest [fire trucks] in active service across Nassau County.”

“Bellerose’s volunteer firefighters represent the best of Long Island: every day, they volunteer their time and put their lives on the line to serve their neighbors and their community,” Gillen said. “I am proud to deliver this critical funding that will help Bellerose FD keep our community safe.”

For Bellerose Mayor Kenneth Moore, the funding represented a vital lifeline to the village’s first responders.

“This is great news for Bellerose Village residents and the Bellerose Village Fire Department," said Mayor Kenneth Moore. “To deliver public safety, both for residents and our volunteer firefighters, we need our fire trucks to operate effectively and efficiently. I want to thank Congresswoman Gillen for her work in securing this grant.”

From the viewpoint of one of those first responders, the funding won't just provide new equipment, it'll save the department considerable leg-work that often precedes expenditures like a new vehicle purchase.

“As a volunteer department, securing $938,000 dollars for a capital purchase of this magnitude is a challenge that often requires years of fundraising and tax assessments,” Fire Chief Raul Sanchez said. “This grant relieves that immense burden and ensures that our volunteers will have the absolute best equipment available to protect our neighbors.”
