Here are the top three stories today in Five Towns:

  1. U.S. News & World Report ranked 19 Long Island schools among the nation’s 1,000 best high schools in the nation. Jericho was the top ranked at 109th in the nation, and Great Neck South High School came in at 195th. Garden City High School and Manhasset Secondary School also made the list. (News 12)
  2. New York led the nation in antisemitic incidents over the past year, according to the Anti-Defamation League. There were 416 documented incidents in the state, a 24 percent increase relative over 2020. The incidents accounted for 15 percent of the total reported antisemitic incidents in the U.S. (News 12)
  3. Three New Jersey teens were arrested for stealing a car in Great Neck. The three suspects, two 16 year olds and a 17 year old, were taken into custody and a gun was found in their car. (News 12)

  • This week, the Nassau County Legislature approved more than $100 million in retroactive and future longevity pay for about 8,000 county public employees from five major unions: Police Benevolent Association, Superior Officers Association, Detectives' Association Inc., Corrections Officers Benevolent Association and the Civil Service Employees Association.
