Boy, 12, Stabs Mother 2X In Chest With Kitchen Knife On LI: PD

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A 12-year-old was arrested after stabbing his mother twice in the chest with a kitchen knife in Valley Stream Tuesday, police said.

According to Nassau County police, the incident took place at 9:20 p.m. Detectives said the boy was engaged in a verbal argument with his 48-year-old mother at his residence; the argument escalated and the 12-year-old stabbed the woman, officials said.

She suffered from a partially collapsed lung and was transported to a nearby hospital where she is currently in stable condition, police said.

The son was charged with first-degree assault and was arraigned on Wednesday at family court in Mineola, police said.
