Here are the top three stories today in Five Towns:

  1. Two men were arrested on Tuesday night in Inwood for a defective brake light near the intersection of Bayview and Gates avenues. Elvis Montenegro, 44, of Far Rockaway, was found with an illegal firearm and the driver, Harold De Los Rios, 38, of Cedarhurst, was also placed under arrest. Illicit substances were found in the car.   2. A Valley Stream man was taken into custody late Tuesday night during a traffic stop near North Central Avenue. Seon Linton, 23, had a loaded 9-millimeter gun in his car. (Patch)
  3. Multiple trains going in and out of the Far Rockaway Long Island Rail Road station were delayed Wednesday due to a fire on the tracks. It was reported shortly after 6:20 p.m. and is believed to be caused by a small bag of garbage that was ignited by the third rail. (Fox News)
